8. He Was Optimistic About WWE’s Main Roster

Cole isn't blind.

He witnessed several friends (like Keith Lee, for example) trade NXT success for struggles on WWE's "main roster". At the same time, Adam said on the pod that he's "annoyingly optimistic" - he's not naive, but also felt good about his chances on either Raw or SmackDown.

There were some low-key fears about leaving NXT behind, of course. Cole would've backed himself in the end and tried to make the best of it. Knowing that makes this fan yearn to see how he'd get on in the ultra-political soup of Raw. AEW is likely the best place for him ultimately though.

Tony Khan's promotion doesn't come with the same age-old concerns about a worker's physical size. Cole is on the smaller side, and that could've worked against him under McMahon's watch. He and Renee didn't go into that side of things however. Being fair, they don't really need to now that he's All Elite.
