3. Chris Jericho Is Still A Main-Event Attraction
Despite one of the most accomplished runs in the entire industry and some career-best work with the List of Jericho, Y2J’s final few matches for WWE were going 50/50 with Hideo Itami on a series of house shows. Entering his late 40s, it looked like his career was beginning to wind down.
Then of course, came Kenny.
His out-of-nowhere match with NJPW’s Kenny Omega for the IWGP United States Title became the special attraction match of a generation and revitalised his career as a global talking point. He went near 35 minutes with the best in the entire world, in the Tokyo Dome, for his first ever 5 Star match.
Despite this, almost nobody thought he’d then go on to be one half of the main-event in the most hyped wrestling show in decades, and arguably be the element of that match most people were excited about. But he did. And he was.
