10 Things We Learned From Attending NXT TakeOver: New York Live

1. A Cure For Ennui

Allow me to get personal and drop the "your writer" b*llocks for a second.

I watch a sh*tload of professional wrestling. Every minute of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT gets consumed every week. If there was something worth catching on 205 Live or NXT UK, I'll go out of my way for those as well. Then there's every major NJPW show, CMLL, buzz-worthy indie matches and moments, Dragon Gate, DDT, the other Japanese indies, and, of course, our own Defiant Wrestling.

It's great, but it's a grind, and it wears your fandom down. There is such thing as too much of a good thing. Jadedness creeps in, and there are times when I personally feel like I'm not getting fully invested in something that I know is absolutely great purely because I have overindulged myself.

NXT is often one of the biggest victims of this, but attending shows like last night's is the perfect cure for any bout of ennui. TakeOver: New York revived, re-energized, and reinvigorated me as a wrestling fan, and now, I'm already back in the mindset of wanting to consume every great bit of action that goes down in New York City this weekend... and we haven't even reached the G1 Supercard yet.

Wrestling is f*cking great, right?
