10 Things We Learned From Bad News Barrett On Talk Is Jericho

7. Getting A WWE Tryout

Bad News Barrett received his first tryout with WWE in 2005 after 18 months and approximately 12 matches, in response to a commercial ran during Raw soliciting potential performers where WWE selected only about 15 out of 1000 applicants. At that point he admits that his wrestling was still pretty bad and he'd never done a promo in his life, yet managed to earn a thumbs up from Fit Finlay before ultimately being told he had potential but needed more experience. At this time he crossed paths with Sheamus and Drew McEntyre (Galloway) and begin working with them around the UK scene, gaining as much seasoning as he could soak up, while at the same time working as a recruiter for a financial company. He landed another tryout with the promotion in 2007, alongside Sheamus, Drew and several other guys of note. This time around all three walked away with a gig, with Wade and Drew being shipped off to Ohio Valley and "The Great White" down to FCW.
