Bobby's very first WWE name was "Blaster Lashley". He was down in OVW just learning the ropes, but even he knew the gimmicky moniker was dumb. Still, imagine Bob's shock when Paul Heyman called him up and asked to talk at a local Denny's.

The rookie didn't know what to think. Was he about to get fired? Did Paul want to address something he'd done wrong? All he knew was that Heyman had been tasked with writing some creative for OVW. When Lashley eventually met up with Paul, he was pleasantly surprised to learn that the ex-ECW chief only wanted to chat so he could get to know Bobby better.

The "mad scientist" chewed Lashley's ear off for around four hours.

They talked and talked (and talked and talked and talked) until they could talk, talk, talk no more. Throughout the meeting, which was super-casual, Heyman repeatedly told Bobby that he didn't want to book him like a walking stereotype. He saw more for Lashley than that.
