McMahon was angry when Harper posted on social media that he planned to leave WWE. There was method to such madness; Brodie said on the pod that he knew he'd steal back some control from the company if he put his intentions out there to the public. Then, maybe fans would wonder why he hadn't been used.

It didn't take long for Vince to call him and say he couldn't let Harper go for "business reasons". Then, when the wrestler asked if he could maybe secure his release in November 2018, McMahon said, "that's a question for somebody else". Brodie knew that was bullsh*t (he was talking to the literal boss), and there was more to come.

Triple H told him that he could go wrestle in New Japan whilst under WWE contract. That didn't end up happening, which Jericho wasn't surprised by. He pointed out that Trips doesn't exactly have a lot of contacts in NJPW, so he couldn't have set something up anyway.

Brodie still has designs on working in New Japan someday.
