Due to his sarcastic sense of humour, RVD was once thrown out of a stuffy talent meeting by John Laurinaitis for hilariously quizzing him on whether or not he and others were allowed to work out before coming to the building. When Bruce caught up with Rob in the hallway and asked why he wasn't in the meeting, Van Dam had a smirk on his face.

That was his laid-back attitude towards life, and it was one WWE officials found hard to figure out. Prichard, Laurinaitis and even Vince McMahon all had conversations with Rob about what lit a fire in his stomach. Bruce says this is because WWE wanted to find out what made Van Dam tick, p*ssed him off and would cause him to show more emotion in the ring.

RVD wouldn't tell them.

His feeling was that, by opening up his inner thoughts, he'd be giving his bosses an advantage over him personally. The easiest thing to do then was keep that information to himself.
