Jericho has become somewhat of an elder statesman for the rest of the AEW roster. He pointed out that some of them had never performed on live television before the promotion started, and that meant the onus was on him to teach. That's a role he cherishes.

The legend knows he has a responsibility to carefully manage expectations amongst some of the younger members of the locker room. Further, he told Austin that it's important to tell them things they maybe don't want to hear every now and then. That's something he learned from Vince.

Jericho definitely felt like he had to help carry AEW on his shoulders when it first launched, if only because he had the worldwide name value that nobody else did. Sure, The Bucks, Omega and more were over, but they lacked that critical mainstream appeal that comes with decades of WWE exposure.
