If only Cody had revealed something else.

He didn't name the person who said this to him, but somebody backstage told the aspiring headliner that he should have a custom belt made when he nabbed the Intercontinental Title for the first time on 9 August 2011. According to this anonymous advisor, Rhodes should've tried to personalise his reign.

Cody wasn't too turned on by that though. Instead, he was more into the idea of bringing back the retro white strap that he'd admired as a child. This aforementioned peer understood that, but figured Rhodes would want to sell replica titles and thus make more money.

In hindsight, this was a bit of a missed opportunity. Similarly, Cody also tricked himself into thinking that he was a stone's throw away from the World Title picture now he was IC Champ. That, after all, had been the way of it in prior generations. Not so by 2011.
