Anyone watching Bryan's time as SmackDown General Manager could see he wasn't fully content in the role. It wasn't what he wanted, after all. Working matches every week inside the ring was, so being forced to sit on the sidelines and dispassionately further other people's storylines had him seriously down.

Bryan didn't mince his words when discussing his time as SmackDown GM. He told Y2J directly that he "literally disliked going to work every week". Not only that, but he'd repeatedly try to leave tapings as early as he possibly could.

As soon as Daniel arrived at the building for SmackDown, he'd ask to see that night's script. Then, he'd check the earliest possible point he could make a hasty exit and go back to his hotel room. That's sad, and it shows just how little Bryan was digging the gig.

He wore that disinterest on his face when on screen too. That kind of depression is hard to hide.
