10 Things We Learned From Daniel Bryan On Talk Is Jericho

7. He Initially Thought The "Yes" Chant Was A Wasted Opportunity

Daniel Bryan

The "Yes" chant didn't develop because Daniel Bryan is a marketing genius who wanted to sell thousands of t-shirts. Nah, it happened because audiences delighted in replying to Bryan's own shouts of "No" with a hearty "Yes". In other words, it was organic. To Daniel, it could also have been so much more.

As remarkable as it is to learn, Bryan wasn't always 100% comfortable with the chant. Privately, he believed it deserved to be attached to more than just one wrestler.

That has started to happen over the past few years. Watch any episode of WWE programming and, when a positive, fan-pleasing decision is made, the crowd are almost certain to chant "Yes! Yes! Yes!" over and over again. Daniel's own arm-waving gesture has bled over onto other wrestlers as well, and he's totally cool with that.

To Bryan, this means the "Yes" gimmick is more than the wasted opportunity he feared it might be back when it first started. He's happy to see it sporadically break out even in segments he's not involved in.
