VICE understands the assignment with these ‘Dark Side’ episodes. They know why some people tune in; folks want to hear all the gritty details of a life and career gone sour, so the producers didn't keep those viewers waiting during this hour long look at Bigelow's legacy.

Bam Bam’s daughter Ricci recalls being only two or three years old and seeing her dad’s head droop whilst they were driving one time. That happened a few more times during the same trip, then police pulled them over and that was the last time she really got to spend time with her father. It’s a heartbreaking open, one VICE comes back to towards the end of the episode.

Ricci still has fond memories of her dad though, and likes hearing that he slept on her bedroom floor when she was a baby. He wanted to be close to her, and that shines through despite the depressing story about addictions wrecking his chance to spend more time with the kids.

Wow.
