10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Bam Bam Bigelow

2. Some Stunning Insight Into That ECW Bump

Bam Bam Bigelow Dark Side Of The Ring
WWE

Bam Bam putting Taz through the ring at Living Dangerously 1998 is one of ECW's most iconic moments, but a ton of careful planning went in to make sure everyone was safe. Put it this way: Bigelow was genuinely worried Taz would hit his head on one of the ring’s support beams underneath.

He was keen to avoid that, and came up with a quite brilliant strategy when mapping the spot out. Taz told VICE that Bam Bam suggested they stick a tiny piece of white tape on one of the black ring ropes. That tape was deliberately placed at the exact spot Bigelow would throw his full weight back and send both crashing through the ring.

Look closely at the match now and you'll see Bammer reaching for that tape.

Taz admitted he feels kinda guilty when giving details like this away so many years later. He's never really been this open about their ECW magic before, and isn't sure whether or not it's the right thing to do or his story to tell.
