4. The Locker Room Chipped In
Magnum wasn’t making any money whilst in hospital, so the NWA’s roster chipped in to donate portions of their own income and keep food on his table. Better yet, the Crockett family matched that halfway to make a full wage, which was a classy touch from everybody involved.
That's the sort of thing that'd bring tears to a glass eye.
Terry must've appreciated that show of support so much. He was facing up to the thought of kissing his pro wrestling dreams goodbye, and was a physical wreck who might never even walk again. Knowing guys like Flair, Jim Crockett and other guys and gals in the NWA had his back would've been huge.
This is actually one of the nicest mini-stories VICE has ever shared on 'Dark Side'. Normally, episodes are grim, grim, grim, grim overload, but hearing the NWA folks come through for Magnum T.A is seriously heartwarming stuff.
Sometimes, wrestling can be really rather nice.
