4. There’s A Fair Bit Of Delusion
Some talking heads, like Brutus Beefcake and Mike Moran, claim Shawn Michaels just kissed Vince McMahon’s ass and that’s why he got a major push instead of Marty. That’s not exactly fair; Jannetty was a constant liability, and Michaels had oodles of talent to begin with anyway.
HBK didn’t just schmooze his way to the top, and the fact some of these guys are content to pretend he did (even after everything they've witnessed over the decades) just comes off as bitter. It's almost laughable when Beefcake claims he doesn't really want to call Michaels an ass-kisser, then does it anyway.
Can these guys stop trying to work for just a second? They've lost touch with reality.
Generally, there's a misplaced bid to portray Shawn as someone who only got anywhere in the WWF because he sucked up to the right people. Come on now! So, had Marty only rubbed shoulders with Vince, everything would've been perfect on his side?!
