10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Marty Jannetty

Such bitterness towards Shawn was rife.

Karen Walker revealed that Marty would literally pin pictures of Michaels' face to a dartboard and lob darts at it in the mid-1990s. He resented that Shawn had become a main event player in the WWF as he wallowed in his own misery on the independent circuit away from the big paydays.

Jannetty has previously positioned himself as a put-upon tag partner who was unfairly shoved aside by an uncaring former friend. He's entitled to that view, and he'll defo have insight into the friendship some internet writer couldn't, but this all feeds into Marty's apparent need to absolve himself of any wrongdoing ("God's Amusement Toy", remember?).

The fact Marty hurled actual darts at a photograph of Shawn says everything here. He detested the thought of Michaels becoming everything he'd wanted to be, and several talking heads are happy to go along with that by pretending it was all fine margins.
