This is when VICE started to hit the gas and gloss over an awful lot of LOD lore. They kinda' jump from Hawk's departure from the WWF and mini-tour of Japan to his reunion with Animal and return to the federation in 1997. Then, they leap directly from that to Droz joining the team and LOD's next exit.

Post-WWF part two, Hawk and Animal moved to Australia and bagged some well-paid indy dates. It seemed like a great getaway for the team, but it ended up being a noose round Hawk's neck due to the accessibility of recreational drugs, alcohol and the partying lifestyle of the promotions they worked for.

He passed out before one show and was whizzed to hospital. That's when, grimly, he told Animal that he didn't want to die outside the United States. Seeing his friend's misery, Animal journeyed Hawk back to Loa Angeles and then Tampa against doctor's orders.

As soon as they touched down in Florida, Animal warned Hawk he was on his own from that point on.
