10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: The Double Life Of Chris Kanyon
3. 2006 Comments Broke His Heart
In retrospect, having Kanyon on the typically brash Howard Stern Show wasn't a good idea. Chris was fragile, and he didn't need to hear cutting comments from top stars like John Cena or his hero Ric Flair. Unfortunately, both appeared on the radio show in 2006 and said Kanyon flopped because he wasn't that good.
That, particularly coming from Flair, crushed him.
Brian Cage, who was eased into the industry by Kanyon, told VICE that he didn't think Cena needed to bury his friend like that. John was already one of the biggest stars in wrestling by '06, and Cage thought he should've been more sensitive to what Chris might be going through.
People may leap all over Ric's burial too, but he was simply echoing what Cena said. It's also possible that few actually knew what was happening in Kanyon's personal life at that time. He may have just come across as a bitter ex-WWE star to Cena and Flair.
