10 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: WWE’s Steroid Trials

7. Prosecutors Fumbled Big Time

They were bumbling big time anyway.

Prosecutors reeked of desperation in court. Or, at least, that's how their case comes across when watching 'Dark Side'. First and foremost, the government didn't indict Vince in Connecticut despite a paper trail of correspondence with Zahorian clearly linking back to there. Instead, they indicted him in Long Island.

That meant the feds had to prove that McMahon had broken laws there. In other words, they made things incredibly difficult for themselves by making just one (seemingly small) mistake. Things got worse from there, and McDevitt could see that they were reeling by the time some key witnesses took to the stands.

Sean O’Shea, the lead prosecutor, cut a fiery promo that painted Vince as the devil near the end of the trial. By that time, it was too late. Jerry knew that deep down, and he could see that the government's accusatory tone was flapping.

They were struggling to find sufficient evidence to put McMahon in prison.
