10 Things We Learned From DDP On Stone Cold’s Broken Skull Podcast

4. He Was Scared To Pitch His Breakout Moment

Despite striking up a rapport with Bischoff, Page admitted to Steve that he was still too intimidated when he thought about approaching the WCW chief directly with ideas. His iconic angle with the nWo in 1997 was drafted up months before it happened, but DDP wouldn't tell anyone about it.

Eventually, he let on to Kevin Nash. The nWo man was shocked to learn that his friend was gonna ask for his release if the company didn't start doing something with him. "Pitch it to Eric", he said. Screw that, replied Dallas. He went to Scott Hall instead, and heard exactly the same thing from him.

"Tell Eric".

Nash was the one who finally laid things out for Bischoff at the hotel after a show, and...the main man loved it. That experience taught Page a valuable lesson about believing in his own abilities to come up with angles/ideas that'd work on TV.
