10 Things We Learned From Eric Bischoff's Podcast On Returning To WWE

2. His Real Thoughts On Vince Losing Touch

A common opinion amongst wrestling fans is that 74 year old Vince McMahon is "out of touch".

When asked for his own thoughts on that, Eric went deep into the weeds about sponsors, advertisers and corporate responsibilities. He noted that it's probs true Vince has committed to a formula that worked in the past and is reluctant to change, but he understands why that is.

Bisch believes there's a difference between "out of touch" and "resistant to change". He gave a great analogy about the pressure of producing action movies for Disney. Directors have to be really careful what ground they tread on there, because they're representing a massive organisation that wants to appease shareholders.

Eric doesn't think people look at the full picture when firing out phrases like, "Vince is out of touch". He says the boss is "playing at a higher level" than most would care to acknowledge - he also doesn't think that gives WWE a 'get out of jail free' card for some creative decisions.

He simply believes McMahon has more to consider than, "Will Wrestling Observer readers like this?".
