10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Edge & Christian's Podcast
6. Old Dog, New Tricks
Few wrestlers have ever been as widely criticised for their moveset’s lack of variety as Goldberg. If John Cena is the “five moves ‘o doom” guy, Goldberg is very much a two-move man, with the Spear and Jackhammer being the only two manoeuvres he regularly calls upon.
Goldberg has added some Muay Thai knee strikes to his repertoire since returning, but rarely has an opportunity to break them out. Now, at WrestleMania 33, Goldberg is promising to “bring out some stuff that I haven’t shown,” and although he has been away from the sport for a long, long time, he “still has a lot of stuff in (him), and(he)I can still do a lot of it.”
Does this mean we’ll see Goldberg busting out Shooting Star Presses and Tope Suicidas in Orlando? Probably not, but it should at least add some variety to the match. Lesnar himself has become little more than a glorified German Suplex spammer at times, and while nobody expects Goldberg to reinvent himself overnight, perhaps he has a trick or two up his sleeve.
