10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Edge & Christian's Podcast

7. Goldberg Vs. Lesnar Will Be Short... Very Short

Goldberg has mustered less than 10 minutes of in-ring action since returning. The F5 he took on Raw a few weeks ago was his first wrestling bump in over a decade, and when you add all this together, it leads to a fairly obvious conclusion: Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg III is going to be short. Very short.

Unfortunately, Goldberg all but confirmed this on the podcast, specifically comparing the match to a flash knockout in boxing:-

“Some people like to watch Evander Holyfield go 12 rounds to a decision; some people like to watch Mike Tyson go out, throw one shot, lift the guy off his damn feet, and put him on his back; I just so happen to be that guy who lifts people off their feet from on their back. So if somebody says 'hey, man, would you like to go out and be Evander Holyfield and go 12 rounds and go to a decision?' My answer is going to be 'hell no.' That's what most people do. I was born into this position and I'm going to do what I'm told to do and I'm going to do..”

He went on to contradict this by suggesting that the match will be a “knock down, drag out war,” but for the most part, Bill sounded like he was readying listeners for another short match. The Universal Title bout probably won’t stretch beyond five minutes, and Goldberg was softening the blow.

It’s not a huge surprise, nor is it a major disappointment, but it pretty much confirms that WrestleMania 33 will end on a whimper. A shame, but when you are forced to build your main event around a guy who has barely wrestled in 12 years, it’s perhaps inevitable.
