10 Things We Learned From Goldberg On Edge & Christian's Podcast

2. He's Beaten Up

Returning to the ring after a lengthy absence is never easy, particularly when you’re 50 years old. As expected, Goldberg has endured a rough reintroduction to professional wrestling, and he wasn’t shy of revealing the extent of his struggles on the podcast. From an in-ring standpoint, Goldberg mentioned that he had great difficulty picking Rusev up in October, then acknowledged the back injury he picked-up during the basic confrontation.

Furthermore, Goldberg stated that the travelling schedule and his own training regime was playing havoc with his body. He has obviously put a lot of effort into improving his physical condition since returning, but it’s really starting to grind him down, and there’s no way he can conceivably continue much longer after WrestleMania.

The travel comments are surprising, as Goldberg only tends to appear every couple of months and doesn’t work any house shows. The rest, however, are not. Despite his obvious dedication to training (and his insistence that WWE, not his own shortcomings, are holding him back), Goldberg is clearly labouring at the moment, and in his own words, the rigmarole is making him “miserable.”
