6. He Wanted To Put Bobby Eaton Over

Goldberg would be the first to admit that he didn't exactly understand how the pro wrestling business worked when he broke in. Wins and losses, weirdly, didn't matter to him, and that was true even after his long-running undefeated streak started rolling. That's why he wanted to put Bobby Eaton over.

Yep, Bill wanted to do the J.O.B for lower card veteran Bobby Eaton.

That's something he realises is ridiculous now, but it wasn't to Goldberg back then. To him, it'd be the ultimate way of saying thank you to Eaton for his endless help and advice behind the scenes, and he loved the thought of laying down for Bobby in his hometown. WCW, predictably, were having none of that sh*t.

Goldberg beat Eaton on back-to-back house shows in early-November 1997. Both took place in Virginia, which was Bobby's home state at the time, and Bill was desperate to put him over at least once. WCW management, who must've been scratching their heads, said it wasn't going to happen.
