According to Jarrett, everything about his "World's Greatest Singer, World's Greatest Entertainer, World's Greatest Wrestler" gimmick in the WWF during the early-to-mid-1990s was 100% Vince McMahon. The boss had wanted a "singing cowboy" character for years, even before Jeff arrived in the company.

The light up hat/jacket combo was Vince's idea, and so was the strut entrance. That's amazing, because the whole gimmick always seemed like something Jarrett would've brought to the table. Nope, it was McMahon's grand plan, and one he'd had for years.

Jeff was just the perfect dude to pull it off.

Vince also pitched putting The Roadie by Jarrett's side and exposing him as a country singer who couldn't actually croon a note. Jeff told Austin that he can't take credit for anything other than the in-ring stuff around that time - McMahon was the creative force driving 'Double J', and he whipped up the entire concept by himself.
