Here's another fascinating piece of insight.

Remember when Vinnie Mac appeared on the historic Raw/Nitro simulcast and effectively fired WCW stars like Jarrett and Lex Luger live on air? Yeah, Jeff didn't know that's what his old boss was doing. He figured Vince was "shooting an angle with [him]".

Jarrett only had six months left on his AOL/Time Warner contract when McMahon scooped up the remnants of WCW, but that was guaranteed money. He had no plans to work until receiving every dime of it, but did think Vince had picked him out of a roster of "50-60 guys" for a reason.

Jeff figured he'd get a call from someone in the WWF about a gig sooner rather than later. In retrospect, he realises how ridiculous that sounds, and doesn't think the timing would've been right for him anyway. He'd have gone back to Vince as a midcard act at best.
