10 Things We Learned From Jerry Lawler On Stone Cold's Broken Skull Sessions Podcast
6. What He’d Change About His WrestleMania Debut
Lawler didn't get an in-ring slot at WrestleMania until 2011, and it was hardly the most flattering of matches. He worked with Michael Cole for what seemed like the longest time ever - not even 'Stone Cold' himself could save the match from being dubbed one of the worst in 'Mania history by some fans.
Jerry is cool with that.
He does, however, think the bout might be better-remembered by people if it had been a shade shorter. "I'm not that crazy about the way it went", he said on the Network, before admitting that he never found out why it took until 2011 for him to get a slot on the biggest pay-per-view of the year.
Austin thinks Jerry should've had a match years, if not decades, before that. There's a clear unease in Lawler's voice when he talks about the match. He obviously doesn't want to bury Cole, but he's not sweet on the announcer being his first and only 'Mania rival.
