10 Things We Learned From John Cena On Stephanie McMahon's WWE Show

1. John Wouldn’t Talk About Ongoing Storylines

A quick Stephanie voiceover revealed that Cena didn’t want to discuss what he was currently doing on WWE TV beyond the actual heel turn back in March. Dear readers, please contrast and compare that to The Rock’s recent comments explaining that everything is a story blah, blah, blah. The Hollywood star really didn't need to insult everyone's intelligence by justifying why he hasn't been showing up to class since Elimination Chamber.

People tuning in had every reason to be miffed at Rocky for skipping WrestleMania 41's final month of build and then the actual weekender in Las Vegas itself. As if seeking the chance to top that, the 'Final Boss' then dipped right out of character by revealing he'd been asked by Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel to appear at Chamber because of "slow" ticket sales. That didn't do much to make WWE's current product look hot.

Continuing, Rocky said that he'd actually wanted Cody Rhodes to turn heel instead, but it was Triple H who called for Cena to do the unthinkable. Perhaps wisely, John opted out of getting into any of that face to face with Stephanie. The saga surrounding Rock's comments would've been far too deep for such a light-hearted, brief snapshot look at Cena's life and career.

By refusing to lift the lid on any ongoing storylines he's currently working on episodes of Raw and SmackDown, John was maintaining a little bit of mystery about what's coming next. That's smart, and it further makes a mockery of The Rock's senseless hand-holding during his interview with Pat McAfee in April.
