10 Things We Learned From Kevin Nash's 1997 WCW Timeline

By 1997, Monday Nitro had an established 2-hour format. To combat this, Vince McMahon decided to make Monday Night Raw a 2-hour program in early-February. In Kevin Nash's mind, the money for that came out of his own pocket. Meanwhile, over in WCW, Eric Bischoff was using Ted Turner's cash.

The general notion is that World Championship Wrestling had higher production values than the World Wrestling Federation in 1997. Turner's production budget was probably higher, simply owing to the fact that he owned an entire television network.

By contrast, McMahon had to pay for enhanced production anytime he wanted it. That's not how Nash saw things.

The WCW star didn't think his company had better production values than the WWF at any point in time. Looking at Nitro and Raw side-to-side from that period, it certainly looks like the WCW program had a glossier sheen, but Nash doesn't believe Nitro ever outproduced Raw in terms of cameras, lights or anything else of note.
