10 Things We Learned From Kurt Angle On Stone Cold's Broken Skull Sessions Podcast

7. The Real ECW Story

A fresh-faced Kurt Angle looked on in horror as ECW ran a crucifixion angle between The Sandman and Raven in 1996. He was so appalled that he personally scrapped any chances of a more permanent move to Paul Heyman's promotion. There's way more to this tale than most know though.

Angle explained it on the Network.

According to him, it was Shane Douglas who broke the ice by inviting the Olympian along to a "totally legit" wrestling show that was happening in Philadelphia. The 'Franchise' pretty much lied to Kurt by convincing him that ECW produced "more legitimate, Olympic-style wrestling" than other companies. Angle didn't do his homework or check out tapes before attending.

He was left totally shocked and couldn't believe what he was seeing - the hardcore bloodletting and controversial angles of ECW left Kurt cold, and he was pretty p*ssed off that he'd been duped.
