Paul's frustrations began around five years ago when, out of the blue, WWE officials pulled him into a quiet room and gave him the "dreaded speech" that all older workers fear. There, they told Show that he'd never headline WrestleMania or main event another pay-per-view again.

In fact, he'd only be used to put over emerging talents coming up from NXT.

Vince himself didn't attend this meeting, and Wight didn't disclose exactly who said these words. However, he's also smart enough to realise that they still came from the top. These were McMahon's own thoughts, and that's why they hurt the big man's pride. He initially went on a bit of a downer.

Then, Wight used the chat as motivation to improve his body and show WWE what they were missing out on by overlooking him. He still thinks it was totally unnecessary to haul him off to the side for a talk that definitely wasn't going to inspire confidence though.
