10 Things We Learned From Rey Mysterio On The Ross Report
4. Kurt Angle Asked Rey To Show Him The Lucha Style
It's amazing to think that Kurt Angle was having world class matches just a few years into his pro wrestling career. Even more stunning is that Angle could work with everyone from The Rock and Steve Austin to The Big Show and Rey Mysterio.
Mysterio says this is why Kurt must be considered one of the best ever, because he repeatedly sought out opportunities to extend his repertoire and work new styles. That thirst for knowledge is precisely why Angle asked to work with Rey in 2002.
Set to work alongside his masked peer at SummerSlam '02 and afterwards in the often superb 'SmackDown Six' doubles scene, Kurt asked Rey if he could show him some Lucha Libre tricks, because he was genuinely interested in learning how to work the Mexican style.
Having never worked with Mysterio before, it would have been easy for Angle to dismiss the incoming former WCW sensation as new to WWE's way of doing things. Instead of being arrogant, the ever-improving Kurt wanted to learn from his new friend.
