Jericho says that talk out of WrestleMania 32 weekend was that many people thought Zayn's match against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Dallas was the best match of the entire action-packed schedule and asks how the bout came about.

"To be honest with you, as far as how it came about Hunter just came to me and said 'Hey listen, we've got this big plan, we might just do you and Nakamura' and I said 'Cool'. What I didn't realise at the time is that...actually just due to the timing of it, I actually got called up right before so it was going to be my last match, for all intents and purposes. I might end up doing another match there but it was the end of my run in NXT, and it was the beginning of his".

He says the two had maybe only met once but have had very parallel careers, beginning their 14-year runs within a few months of each other. Matt Bloom suggested the two get in the ring at the Performance Center beforehand and work out together because he didn't want the first time they locked up to be in such a big match, which Nakamura agreed with but Sami preferred not to.

He calls the bout one of his best ever, maybe in his top five due to "a million variables". He felt it was really sophisticated in some ways with certain things that most fans might not pick up on and was filled with nuances that are more recognisable for other workers and longtime observers of the business. And on top of that the crowd was molten, so it was their match to lose and he doesn't think they did.

"What sets it apart from other good matches I've had or other good matches on the indies is really the emotion and the crowd. If you actually watch it back and break the match down we really didn't do that much, but it seems like we did a lot and that's part of the art form. That's the secret. I'm here just rambling about how great my work was, but I enjoyed it".

In response to Chris' question if he thinks Nakamura can make it in WWE, Sami responds absolutely and says that he has a transcendence about him, understands the character aspect and has the work to back it up.

That wraps up Sami Zayn's second appearance on Talk is Jericho and much has transpired in his career since his first appearance. He's gone from NXT stalwart and main roster hopeful to one of the men WWE looks to be building their "new era" around.
