A few weeks following his heel turn on Reigns and Ambrose, Rollins worked a singles match with Kofi Kingston on the 20 June 2014 SmackDown. That straightforward TV match angered Vince McMahon to the point that Seth almost walked out on WWE after the show.

Upon returning backstage, Rollins was shocked to hear Vince angrily calling him over before tearing him a new one in front of other wrestlers and staff. McMahon was incensed that Seth had given Kofi so much offence in the match, and he wanted to know why he hadn't squashed him as instructed.

Sensing trouble, Michael Hayes tried to calm things down. Even he couldn't stop Vince from ranting about the match and demanding the pair go out and tape it again.

Eventually, that's what happened, but not before Rollins blew a gasket and thought to himself that this kind of thing shouldn't be happening to him. He seriously considered just walking out and facing the consequences later.
