His fascination with Japanese wrestling grew, but it hasn't really manifested on WWE TV until now. Oh yes, believe it or not, Shane says Raw Underground is heavily influenced by traditional Japanese strong style strikes and the rugged nature of matches in New Japan generally.

McMahon didn't delve into the obvious (that it's a Fight Club rip off), but instead said regular trips to Japan since the late-80s have ensured he fell in love with that style. He did admit that Underground is nothing new, and said it's actually an amalgamation of things he spotted in Japan and MMA.

So, there you go. Whether you love it or detest it on Monday nights, Underground has some NJPW influence lurking beneath the surface. That's something Shane seemed very passionate about on 'After The Bell'.
