Conrad Thompson rightly pointed out during the show that Randy Savage must have felt the pressure of being the first WWF Champ not named Hulk Hogan in four years when he bagged the title at 'Mania IV. The truth is quite different; Savage, keen to prove himself, told WWE to heap the pressure on.

Prichard used the phrase, "load up the wagons" in Randy's trademark voice, and then said that Savage embraced the strain of carrying the promotion's workload as the top guy. In fact, he demanded that people start relying on him to be the apex performer in the industry.

That kind of pressure wasn't something "Macho Man" viewed as a burden.

According to Bruce, that's why Vince was so set on making Savage his next champion when Hulk went off to shoot No Holds Barred (which, as a side note, The Wrestling Observer guessed would be a Hogan biopic). McMahon knew Randy would handle the spotlight.
