10 Things We Learned From Something Else To Wrestle With: The Mega Powers

2. The Belt Literally Switched

How about this for a fact: the WWF Title Randy Savage wore to the ring at WrestleMania V wasn't the same one Hulk Hogan celebrated with after winning the match that night.

Upon winning the belt back at 'Mania IV, Randy had the thing customised to suit his more slender waist. On top of that, he was never a fan of the 'snaps' holding the title onto someone's body. Making changes, he had velcro installed on the belt instead, and had it tailored to a smaller size generally.

Thinking ahead, WWE officials planned a quick switch off camera that'd see Hulk hoist a bigger title (one without velcro) above his head in Atlantic City.

Prichard wasn't keen to make a big deal out of this, but Thompson (a self-confessed "belt mark") was engrossed in the idea that Hogan posed post-match with a different championship to the one Randy had strolled to the ring wearing.
