Austin borderline marked out for some of the angles Shango worked with The Ultimate Warrior back in '92 during 'Broken Skull Sessions'. Wright appreciated that, but pointed out how difficult the witch doctor gimmick was to play for somebody so green and inexperienced.

Real sh*t going on in his personal life didn't help.

Charles admitted to Steve that he was in a really, really bad place personally between 1992-1993. He was going through a divorce at home, was drinking lots and described himself as a "mean person". Basically, Wright just wanted to hurt other people. Not wrestlers, but punters in bar fights.

The Undertaker was the one who stepped in and told his friend to go home for a while and calm things down. He noticed that Wright was getting tanked up and always on the hunt for a fight every single night. That lifestyle wasn't going to end well, and it took his eye off the ball professionally too.
