Various WWF staffers phoned Wright with several ideas during his sabbatical between 1993-1995, but he wasn't interested in any of their suggestions. Later, Vince called and pitched a character based on UFC sensation Kimo Leopoldo. That was the most provocative gimmick fired his way, but Charles still wasn't up for it.

McMahon explained that he'd be called KAMA, and that this unspoken full name would stand for "Kick Any Man's Ass" (that's so mid-90s WWF; the avoidance of the word "ass" alone is '95 in a nutshell). Again, Wright knocked it back. Then, Vince told him he might even be riding Harleys in some vignettes.

Suddenly, Charles wanted in.

It's amazing to think that riding some bikes is all it took to sway him. That didn't even really end up happening - KAMA was a straight-up MMA gimmick, so motorbikes didn't really have a place in his presentation. The lure of riding is what brought Wright back to wrestling though.
