Wikipedia claims that Triple H started developing the move that'd become known as the Pedigree during his stay in WCW between 1994-1995. Not so, says he.

'The Game' told Loudwire that he actually began formulating how the move could work during training sessions at Killer Kowalski's school. There, he was a humble student when Kowalski showed everyone a hold that involved putting an opponent's head between his legs, jumping up into the air and giving the illusion that he'd snapped their neck.

Triple H thought it sucked and looked rather "hokey". To him, it made much more sense for both men to bump, with one coming down hard on his knees; he says a lot of guys smashed their faces off the mat at training when he tried to practice his new creation on them.

So, there you go. The Pedigree finish wasn't something he came up with in WCW. He'd already been toying with it for years by that point.
