10 Things We Learned From VICE’s Dark Side Of The Ring: Jimmy Snuka

2. Snuka's Ex-Wife Doesn't Think He Recalls The Trial

In late-2015, Snuka was retrospectively charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter of Nancy Argentino. A trial began, and it compounded Jimmy's health problems. He'd been diagnosed with stomach cancer mere months before, and was suffering from dementia on top of that too.

Carole believes that was a blessing in disguise.

She's not sure Snuka really knew what was going on in the courtroom. If he had been on top of things, then Carole thinks he would've been devastated to find out that he was being tried for murder. There's a lot of footage of Jimmy and others arriving for the trial at this point in the doc, and it's clear to see that Jimmy was frail and rather bewildered looking.

There's a chance he didn't know much of what was happening around that time. This is a neat example of VICE's impartiality; they don't expressly pin Nancy's demise on Jimmy, but instead look to interview as many talking heads as possible to try and get a balanced, fair view on Nancy's death.
