5. The Sandman Tried To Take Heat Off Jack

Jack cut Kulas so badly he "bled like a stuck pig" and had to be rushed to hospital. Other ECW stars watching from behind the curtain would've been forgiven for thinking he'd gone too far, but The Sandman says that wasn't the general vibe amongst the boys.

They treated it like any other wild brawl the promotion had become famous for.

Sandman did realise that Jack was in a bit of hot water though, so he decided to bleed heavily in his own match later that night to "take some heat off" his peer. That sums up how wild ECW was in the mid-90s. Someone saw an untrained rookie get carved up and carted to hospital, then thought, 'Hey, I better save his ass by blading hard too'.

The Sandman seemed to be sounding board for Jack throughout his ECW run. He told the cane-swinging brawler many times what he planned to do in the ring that night, and Sandman took it in stride as New Jack being New Jack.
