2. What Vince McMahon Told Him Post-Promo

In the build-up to WrestleMania 35, Batista appeared on Raw several times to cut promos on Triple H. In one, on the 11 March 2019 episode, Dave stumbled over his words a few times. Afterwards, he retreated behind the curtain to hear what Vince McMahon thought about the segment.

To Batista's relief, the boss was thrilled, and he wasn't too fussed about any verbal hesitation.

Any WWE fan will get a kick out of watching how McMahon produces talent here. There's a protracted shot of him telling Batista that his stumbling "made it even more real". This is particularly interesting considering WWE's heavy scripting over the past decade or so. If Vince wants performers to be "more real", then why write every word for them?

Another point of interest is how nervous Batista looks around McMahon. He's like a little boy talking to his headmaster, which is incredible. This is a top Hollywood star who has made a name for himself outside WWE, and yet he still shows deference to Vince.
