10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Batista

1. WrestleMania 35 Was His "Storybook Ending"

Finally, Batista tells how WrestleMania 35's 'No Holds Barred' match with Triple H was the "storybook ending" he wanted for his pro wrestling career. It was long (arguably too long), slow and old-school where other bouts were nippy and infused with modern elements, but it was the match Dave wanted for his last.

There's something respectable about that.

He went out on his own terms on the biggest show of the year against the man he credits as his mentor, and he viewed it as closure on a part of his life he treasures. That's the nice side of WWE, and it's hard to begrudge Batista that moment even if the match could maybe have been improved by shaving a few minutes here or there.

One of the more powerful shots from the doc shows Vince McMahon looking on like a proud father as Batista and Triple H embrace at the Gorilla Position after their match. That, perhaps more so than any other moment in this 24 episode, shows the sentimental side of a company that's often been deemed cold.
