10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Batista

10. The Real Reason He Got Into Pro Wrestling

By his own admission, Batista developed quickly when he started hitting the weights hard. His body responded well to the gym, but there was still a real lack of direction in his life. Dave wasn't working out for anything in particular, and he wouldn't until realising that pro wrestling was his calling.

Even then, he only got into it because he was broke and couldn't provide for his young kids.

That spurred Batista on to scramble together any money he could, ask The Wild Samoans to teach him and see if he could use his superior physique to conquer the wrestling world. After some early time on the indy scene, WWE came calling, and that's when Batista started to realise he might be onto something.

It all started because Dave wanted to put food on his family table. That was it. His goals wouldn't change until he made some headway and realised it wasn't selfish to dream for himself too. From the outside looking in though, wrestling had money written all over it, and that sounded pretty good.
