4. A Second Reason Why She Left In 2006

At the 2013 Hall Of Fame ceremony, Trish told everyone that she'd left in 2006 to take care of her mother back home. Mrs. Stratus had been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, and Trish knew she couldn't balance the hectic WWE lifestyle with caring. That's why she decided to let Vince McMahon know personally that she wouldn't be extending her contract.

The Vin-man requested that she stick around so she could finish up in Toronto at Unforgiven, which she did, but Stratus revealed on 24 that being by her mother's side wasn't the only reason for retiring. She felt good about where women's wrestling was in '06, and was satisfied with her part in developing it.

Trish didn't think she had a role left to play.

Her departure would've happened even if her mother hadn't taken ill. Stratus had accomplished a lot in six years, and believed it was the right time to step away and let others take up the mantle of female locker room leader.
