6. Turner Almost Sold WCW For $67 Million

Ted Turner's people, and AOL/Time Warner, thought around $67 million would suffice.

Think about that, then weep when remembering that Vince McMahon paid just $2.5 million for the entire WCW tape library, 24 talent contracts and a whole suite of show rights and company trademarks. McMahon got the deal of the century, and he snagged it just two short months after Bischoff and Bedol had already agreed terms.

As 'Fusient Media Ventures', they were in the driving seat to get a deal over the line and become new owners of World Championship Wrestling. Their offer, to put McMahon's into perspective, was around 27 times what WWE would eventually get WCW's ashes for. That, dear readers, is frankly unfathomable.

What's more, Bischoff and Bedol did actually look like they'd win the day. Turner's people were more than content with the package they were offering, and they were excited about having someone who'd turned WCW around before (Eric) back in office.
