10 Things We Never Thought We’d See In A WWE Ring (But Somehow Did)

4. A British World Champion

When the Wade Barrett hype train was completely derailed back in 2010, it looked like any dreams of finally seeing a British World Champion crowned in WWE went straight off the tracks with it.

Then, just under a decade later, a star who was once released from the company in 2014 did the unthinkable and booked his place in the main event of WrestleMania 36.

Drew McIntyre had won the 2020 men's Royal Rumble and had his eyes firmly set on the 'Beast Incarnate' Brock Lesnar's WWE title. However, with WWE suddenly being forced to move 'Mania to an empty Performance Center due to the current global situation, could this ruin any original plans the company had to put the title on the Scotsman in front of a raucous live crowd?

Apparently not.

McIntyre did the business in the main event of 'Mania 36 Night Two and lifted the prestigious belt above his head to close the show.

Brits who had lived through the Davey Boy Smith, William Regal and Barrett years were finally rewarded with a home grown Champion, but it still didn't quite seem real.

What's even more insane is the fact that he's actually been booked like a strong babyface top star ever since...what a world.
