10 Things That Would’ve Happened Had Sting Joined WWE In 2001
9. Vs John Cena
The caveat here, of course, would be if Sting had stuck around in WWE for long enough. Cena, of course, wasn't a main event player for four years after WCW went out of business, and it was a few years after that even where he was viewed as someone who could participate in an "Era VS Era" match. We have every reason to believe Sting would have been wrestling for a while. After all, he wrestled for TNA until the beginning of this year, so it's not outside the realm of possibility to have this match on the agenda. Cena's character reminds people of Sting's early days as a face. Very colorful, geared towards younger crowds, always trying to do what's right... it's a natural connection. Even as "Crow" Sting, he was a favorite of the youngsters and fought for what he felt was right (WCW, as the nWo tried to destroy them), so a match between he and Cena could make for a fun storyline as far as that is concerned. Two of the better "good guys" we've ever seen, finally getting a chance to square off. Depending on when it happened, it could either solidify Cena's main event push early on, or it could cement his legacy altogether, like his feud with The Rock did. This is being said because, unfortunately, you have to see Sting simply being used to put Cena over here. Knowing what we know and have heard about Sting, he'd be more than willing to do it.
